Ian has worked in the area of Information Governance for over 15 years in roles at the Information Commissioner’s Office, the Legal Services Commission, Lambeth Council and now at the British Council as Head of Information Governance and Privacy in their Global Information Services Department. In his current role Ian leads a team of officers based in the UK and around the world covering all areas of Information Governance (Global Data Protection Standards, Information Security, Freedom of Information and Open Data). The current focus of his role is preparing the British Council for GDPR and developing the organisation’s Policies, processes, toolkits and guidance.
Ian is an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy, as well as CIPP/E (Privacy Professional Europe) and CIPM (Information Privacy Manager) certified. He is also a certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
